As the mission continues for Nogizaka46 to surpass their rivals, AKB48, they once again find themselves in the world’s spotlight after their second album “Sorezore No Isu” was officially announced as the World’s Best-Selling Album of the Week by World Music Awards.
This is Nogizaka46’s third time in topping the world weekly charts, with their first album “Toumei Na Iro” and their 12th single, “Taiyou Knock”, doing the same previously. “Sorezore No Isu” achieved first place with 275,000 pts, almost tripling the points received by Beyonce’s “Lemonade”, which achieved second this week.
Nogizaka46’s second album features a collection of songs from the first to the 14th single, while also featuring new songs such as “Kikkake” and “Yokubou no Reincarnation”. The album was released on 25th May 2016, and topped Japan’s Oricon Charts from the first day! The album is sold in 5 different types ranging from Type A to Type D, as well as the Regular CD edition.
In addition, two more Japanese albums were ranked in the Top 20 this week, with “KPP Best” by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu achieving 13th place and “Matsuno” by Karamatsu & Ichimatsu Matsuno of Osomatsu -san fame achieving 16th place.
