Hello Kitty Orchid Garden Cafe to open in Singapore’s Changi International Airport next month with a local twist!

Just this week, the Pompompurin Cafe opened its doors at Orchard Central in Singapore, serving up an array of dishes ranging from taco rice to adorable parfaits. Fans of kawaii culture will be glad to know that another Sanrio character will soon be having her own dedicated cafe in the country too!

Hello Kitty is, undeniably, a famous name to Singaporeans and Japanese pop culture fans everywhere. She has her own theme park in neighbouring Malaysia called the Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and her own section in Japan’s Sanrio Puroland. The famous pop culture icon is also set to have her own Robot Kitty theme park event in June 2016 at Singapore’s Suntec City Convention and Exhibiton Centre.

Thus, with her regional popularity, it is unsurprising that she would be the next Sanrio character with her own cafe in Singapore. The Hello Kitty Orchid Garden Cafe will be opening its doors at Changi International Airport, Terminal 3’s Arrival Hall on 12 May 2016. This means that members of the public, regardless of whether they are passengers or not, are free to access this quirky restaurant! The cafe will also be open for 24 hours, too.

The Hello Kitty Orchid Garden Cafe is set to follow the existing Hello Kitty restaurant in Hong Kong’s model in that it will also serve Hello Kitty themed food with a local twist. While the restaurant in Hong Kong has Hello Kitty-themed dim sum, the Hello Kitty Orchid Garden Cafe in Singapore will serve up local treats such as wagyu beef rendang and sugee cake. It is also set to serve all-day breakfast meals infused with Hello Kitty motifs. As per most character cafes in Japan, this cafe will also have a merchandise corner for passengers and fans alike to purchase unique Hello Kitty souvenirs such as plushies, and even specialty teas and coffee brews.

With the Pompompurin Cafe and upcoming Hello Kitty Orchid Garden Cafe opening their doors to the Singaporean audience, what will be the next character cafe to open in Singapore? We are quite excited to find out in the near future too!
