LiSA, ClariS and GARNiDELiA – Ultimate Trinity to sing for “Qualidea Code”

When the multimedia project “Qualidea Code” announced further details at its stage program at AnimeJapan 2016, viewers were unprepared for it’s main announcement. The project, which had spawned a few light novels, along with a manga series and anime series coming up later this year, announced that the artistes working on the anime’s theme would be the “ultimate trinity”, consisting of LiSA leading the OP, with ClariS taking charge the 1st ED, and GARNiDELiA, the 2nd ED.

LiSA, who will be singing the opening, made her debut in 2011 and had since been featured in various anime like Angel Beats, Sword Art Online (ソードアート・オンライン) and Fate / Zero. Many of her singles have made their way into the top 10 weekly Oricon charts. She is described “one of the biggest hits as a solo female artist” by the official Qualidea Code website – which is clearly apparent from what we have seen from her concert. Her fame extends far beyond Japan, having made appearances in many rock festivals and anime music concerts around the world. Many LiSAkkos – members of her fan clubs – will almost definitely rejoice as they shall see her make an entrance into Qualidea Code. LiSA’s stage name is an acronym of Love is Same All.

The 1st ending theme will be sung by the duo female group ClariS, Clara and Karen, or New Feeling☆Retro-future Unit  (新感覚☆レトロフューチャーユニット). They made their debut in 2011 with their first single “irony” after which had many of their songs and albums featured in the Oricon charts. Like LiSA, they have been featured in several anime, such as “My Little Sister Can’t be This Cute” (俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない) and “Magical Girl Madoka ☆ Magica” (魔法少女まどか☆マギカ).  On 14th June 2014, founding member Alice left the group, and in November in the same year, a new ClariS took its first step forward with the introduction of new member “Karen”. The unit name, “ClariS” references a declension of the Latin word ‘clarus’ which means “bright, clear and brilliant”.

The 2nd ending will feature GARNiDELiA, a duo artist group featuring vocalist Maria and composer Toku. They debuted in March 2014 with their single “ambiguous”, which was also chosen to be the opening theme for “Kill La Kill” (キルラキル) in that same year. The single immediately reached the first place on iTunes store and most of the local music download services. They later sang  for other anime including “The Irregular at Magic High School” (魔法科高校の劣等生) and “Gundam Reconguista in G” (ガンダム Gのレコンギスタ). The name GARNiDELiA is an anagram of Le Palais Garnier de Maria, which means “Maria’s Opera House, her place to sing” and Cordelia, which is the name of the asteroid discovered in Toku’s birth year.
