Yesterday night (9/8/2015), the official Twitter account for the anime adaptation of the popular online browser game ‘Kantai Collection’ (shortened as KanColle) tweeted thanks for those who went for the KanColle convention held at Yokohama, Japan, which was held on the same day.
Another tweet continued, announced that the plan for a movie adaptation (which is already in the works, slated for a 2016 release) for the series was proposed during the event yesterday. Furthermore, the sequel which was promised to fans in the last episode of the anime series back in March this year was also stated to be in production.
Translation: “We deeply thank the admirals who have visited our ‘2nd KanColle Naval Review’ today (9/8/2015)! A large number of admirals arrived both in the afternoon and evening. We take this opportunity to express our gratitude once again.”
Translation: “During the event today (9/8/2015), we announced the production of the movie adaptaion of KanColle! It is slated for release in 2016, so we are diligently in production now. The sequel for the anime broadcast which we announced in the last episode back in March is also concurrently underway, so we hope you give us your support.”
There is much discussion in the Japanese community as to what the movie adaptation might cover, as such KanColle fans alike can look forward to more Kan-musu next year.
