Vocaloid fans might be familiar with the unit called ‘HoneyWorks’. They have produced and composed various songs that are sung by Vocaloids such as Hatsune Miku and GUMI! Aside from that, their songs are also accompanied by illustrations as part of their video uploads. The total amount of views for their songs uploaded on Youtube and Nico-Nico Douga and other miscellaneous video sharing sites is over a whopping 100 million! Two of their albums have even climbed to the fourth position on the Oricon Weekly Charts! They have also collaborated with vocalist Chico to provide the theme songs to hit anime such as Gintama and also did the arrangement and composition to the Brothers’ Conflict theme songs as well.
Now, one of their main projects, Kokuhaku Jikkou Iinkai ~Renai Series (Confession Executive Committee ~Love Series) is set to have a film adaptation starring a star-studded cast of seiyuu!
Two albums have been released that centre around this series’ themes of love between high school students. Boku Ja Dame Desu Ka is the group’s fourth album and all the tracks were sung by living voice actors rather than Vocaloids. Three novels had also been released as part of the series, each written by Fujitani Touku and containing illustrations done by Yamako. HoneyWorks provided the draft ideas for the novels.
The album boasts a stellar cast of well-loved voice actors, ranging from Attack on Titan’s Yuki Kaji to Haruka Tomatsu from the stellar seiyuu unit, Sphere. Big names in the industry like Hiroshi Kamiya will also be present! Since this project also looks to be very music-based, it is unsurprising that famed seiyuu and singers Kenichi Suzumura and Aki Toyosaki are part of the cast!
So far, the official website for the movie has gone live. Not much details can be found however beyond the announced cast list, information regarding the HoneyWorks team and an estimated release date for the movie. The movie is slated for release in Spring 2016.
The cast list is as follows:
Hiroshi Kamiya as Yū Setoguchi
Haruka Tomatsu as Natsuki Enomoto
Yuuki Kaji as Sōta Mochizuki
Kana Asumi as Akari Hayasaka
Kenichi Suzumura as Haruki Serizawa
Aki Toyosaki as Mio Aida
The cast is consistent with the ones featured in the Vomic that were part of the special editions of the albums under the series. It will be interesting to see if the film will follow the plot of the three novels that tie in with the song from the series or if it will be taking on a new direction altogether! Of course, we are definitely looking forward to what HoneyWorks can offer musically in this film too!
