At E3’s Sony press conference on 15 June 2015, Square Enix announced what fans have long awaited for 2 decades. After the proliferation of many spin-offs, ranging from FF7 Crisis Core to Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, a Final Fantasy VII Remake is confirmed to be coming out on the PlayStation4, a piece of news that was stated twice; the first in the form of a trailer at E3, and the second in an official press release:
LOS ANGELES (June 15, 2015) – At Sony Computer Entertainment of America LLC’s (SCEA) E3 press conference today, SQUARE ENIX® announced that it has begun production on the full remake of FINAL FANTASY® VII for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system.
Leading the development will be key members from the original project, including producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.
Of all the games in the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy VII has been one of the most requested to be given a remake. Many gamers worldwide are ecstatic about the news, especially after the tease last year. Perhaps that this reporter might even consider picking up a PS4 soon. (Perhaps the Hatsune Miku one?)
Here is the teaser trailer that affirmed this piece of news:
So far, there has been no confirmed release date but with all these evidences, we can definitely look forward to the recreation of various iconic scenes such as Aerith’s death and the battle against Sephiroth!
