AKB48’s songs made history in the world’s music ranking charts once again. According to the annual World Music Awards’ “World Top 20 Singles of the Week”, AKB48’s 40th single, “Bokutachi Wa Tatakawanai” achieved the top-spot and claimed the title as the 20th World’s Single of the Week in 2015.
The 40th single of AKB48 was released on 20th May, on the same week as the top USA superstar, Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood”. The single made close to 1.67 million sales on their first week of release, the highest record of first-week sales in their history, beating their previous record of 1.66 million sales for their 36th single last year.
“Bokutachi Wa Tatakawanai” earned 842,000 points, almost doubling the 2nd ranked song, “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth, which has been in the #1 for 6 weeks in a row.
