The newest television adaptation of the internationally popular manga series ‘Lupin the Third’ written and illustrated by Monkey Punch has recently been confirmed to air worldwide on Italy’s RTI network from May 2015, and on the Nippon TV network in Japan during the Autumn 2015 anime season.
In the recent years, there were indeed other anime adaptations of ‘Lupin the Third’ such as the television series ‘Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Mine Fujiko’ which aired in 2012, and the movie ‘LUPIN THE IIIRD: Jigen Daisuke’s Gravestone’ screened in 2014, but fans of the series in Japan largely consider this new anime series as the official continuation of the ‘Lupin III PART III’ which was aired back in 1985.
The staff involved in the project comprises members of the same animation team involved in some of the animated Lupin III movies, including ‘The Mystery of Mamo’ (1978), and ‘The Castle of Cagliostro’ (1979). Some of these members include Tomonaga Kazuhide (General Manager), Yano Yuuichirou (Director), and Takahashi Yuuya (Series Organiser) who is known for his work on ‘LUPIN THE IIRD: Jigen Daisuke’s Gravestone’ and ‘TIGER&BUNNY’, all of which will be working with the animation studio, TMS Entertainment, on the project.
It has also been revealed on the series’ official tumblr website that Ohno Yuuji, well known for his work on the musical scores for the earlier Lupin III animated series and movies, will be in charge of the music for this new series.
